This page is not yet public, and I am at the moment sharing it with only a few trusted friends. Please do not share unless with someone you are sure will use it only themselves, and not make it public. Please also feel free to read no further if you are busy, or otherwise not inclined to view my new attempts at moving image art. I decided long ago to never let degrees of interest in my work affect friendships.

As it has been four decades since I edited moving image works, I am now relearning how to do it, and also how to do it with this new project, rather different from my earlier films. Hence, the videos, which I am also calling "films," linked to here may not yet be in their final forms, and I welcome your comments, but also please also feel free to offer comments of only a few words, and please feel no obligation to offer any comments at all. If you do, be honest. I am interested in hearing things along the lines of, for example, "These are just not any good aesthetically." If at least some seem acceptable, then are some much weaker than others, and therefore perhaps should not be called works? As for localized comments, are any images or cuts or sequences weak? I am indeed worried about a few. Do any images need adjustments to brightness, contrast, color? Feel free to use precise running times of shots you choose to mention, or not. And don't worry, I'm not certainly not expecting detailed shot by shot comments, just indicating I am open to that.

Each video begins with eight seconds of black. This is not part of the work, but is there so that you have time to hide the cursor and the other distractions that are constantly effecting a flattening of all of our experiences. The title image and the four seconds of darkness that follow are part of the work, but the four seconds of darkness at the end are not. They are there to give you time to turn off the screen, so that the film ends when it ends, rather than serving to introduce whatever Vimeo is choosing to display at the moment.

I hope you find some of these works to be of interest. Many more are to come. Each will also be accompanied by five large prints, grids of stills from the film, and while both the prints and films are intended to function as autonomous works, it is my hope that seeing them together will enhance each.

The password for each work is Bach. Your browser might offer you the option to save it for all the videos, so you don't have to keep retyping "Bach," but in my view that would not be altogether a bad thing, a reminder of what's really important.
